Five Things To Know: Panthers Hit the Road with Back-to-Back Meets

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee men's and women's swimming and diving team hit the road in what begins the first of a six-meet road stint. UWM will compete against former conference foe, Valparaiso on Fri., October 27 and conference opponent Wright State on Sat., October 28.

SCOUTING REPORT
Valparaiso
With two meets under their belt, UWM's men's and women's relay teams have gotten off to a fast start placing at the top of the leaderboard versus Grand Valley State and at the All Wisconsin Showcase.
Apples to Apples…
Women's 200-yard freestyle relay: UWM 1:36.21, Valpo 1:43.39
Women's 200-yard medley relay: UWM 1:44.56, Valpo 1:53.38
Women's 400-yard freestyle relay: UWM 3:34.55, Valpo 3:50.63

Wright State
This will be the first competitive meet for the Raiders. On the women's side, the Raiders finished in seventh place at last year's Horizon League Championship and return Diver of the Meet, Kyah Fleckner. On the flip side, the men finished in fourth place slightly ahead of the Panthers.

DIVING FOR GOLD
It is no secret that UWM has a rich history of successful divers. Dakota Skenandore has racked up second and third place finishes, while Spencer Peronto won the 3-meter at the All Wisconsin Showcase. Carley Thomas broke out last weekend at the Showcase with two second place finishes in the 1 and 3-meter dive events, while veteran Cassidy Pilo has first and third place finishes under her belt.

#TBT – Nov. 6, 2016
The Panther women dominated last season's conference meet versus Wright State, winning 185-56 and won all 11 events. Addison Skogman and Sara Bentley won two events each, while Natalie O'Connell, Jenn Kordik, and Adrienne DiFoggio ended in a 1-2-3 finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.

ROAD WARRIORS
This weekend marks the beginning of a six-meet road skid. The Panthers won't return home until Sat., January 27, 2018 against Green Bay.

UP NEXT
DIII powerhouse, Wheaton College, is no stranger to winning. A part of the CCIW, the Thunder have an impressive history winning a total 50 conference championships since it's induction. The women have been on a remarkable run of 19-straight CCIW Championships (1998-2017), while the men have accumulated 25 team championships. Of it's 50 CCIW Championships, Jon Lederhouse was at the helm of the program for 47 of them. In March, Wheaton named Jacob Ayers and Meghan Ayers head of the program after Lederhouse announced his retirement.
