Margis Smashes School Record In Big Win

Racine native takes down 1-meter diving record

CHICAGO – Rachel Margis broke her own school record in one-meter diving as the Milwaukee women's swimming and diving team cruised to a 182-118 win over the University of Chicago Saturday from the Myers-McLoraine Pool.
 
The Panthers won 10 of the 16 events on the day, including both diving events by Margis in a career day for the senior.
 
Margis starting things off by breaking her own school record on the one-meter board with an incredible score of 313.95, topping her old mark of 300.52 set last year. Her score was well ahead of the next finisher by a full 50 points.
 
Margis also posted a career-best mark on three-meter, racking up 328.13 points to once again comfortably take first. Freshman Cassidy Pilo came in second with a score of 262.58.
 
Sara Bentley won three events on the night. The sophomore continuing her impressive season first by winning the 100 back in 57.42, nearly two full seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
 
Bentley also won the 200 back in 2:05.51, three seconds ahead of Chicago's top finisher. Finally, the Ames, Iowa native made it 3-for-3 by winning the unique 100 IM in 59.35. Senior Hannah Lucas came in second overall in 1:00.91.
 
Milwaukee took the top-two spots in the 200 free. Junior Natalie Johnson topped the field with a winning time of 1:56.37, with senior Nicole Hutchins right behind at 1:56.49.
 
Adrienne DiFoggio claimed another Panther win the 200 breaststroke. The sophomore touched the wall at 2:27.22 for first, with Lucas once again right behind in second at 2:27.91.
 
UWM took the top-three spots in the 500 free. Freshman Danielle Kudis won going away in 5:02.52. Johnson placed second 9n 5:09.10, with Addison Skogman third at 5:12.89.
 
Skogman also won an event of her own, taking the top spot in the 1000 free in 10:24.98 – a whopping 26 seconds ahead of the next finisher.
 
Freshman Shelby Rozeboom also had a win on the day, topping the field in the 50 free in 24.40 – her fifth win of her freshman campaign.
 
Milwaukee will close out its regular season in two weeks with a Jan. 30 dual meet against Green Bay from the Klotsche Natatorium.
