Macomb, Ill. - Nine different swimmers each won an event as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's swimming team cruised to a 130-92 win over Western Illinois Saturday afternoon at Brophy Hall.

Milwaukee used mainly upperclassmen in the team's final road meet of the season and four seniors and four juniors each won individual events en route to the big win.

In all, Milwaukee won every swimming event on the day and did not compete in diving.

"Things started off very well for us today," Milwaukee head coach Kyle Clements said. "We used a different lineup, going with mostly juniors and seniors and the guys swam great. Winning every event is obviously very nice and the kids had some fun getting to swim some off events. We added a few pool records to that as well, so we're very happy with the results today."

Senior Sam Keele broke the WIU pool record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.65, passing the old mark of 1:56.90 set in 1995 by over a full second. Classmates Jordan Diel (1:59.16) came in second and Greg Wise (2:02.69) finished just behind, in second and third.

Senior Brady Huemann won the 100 backstroke with a season-best time of 53.89, touching the wall just ahead of the Leatherneck's Jon Bond (53.96) in the closest race of the day.

Nathan Rahe won the 100 butterfly in 53.92 and Evan Green took first in the 500 freestyle in the first time he swam the event all season.

UWM took the top three spots in the 200 freestyle. Junior Mike Schalla won the event in 1:46.39, while Rahe (1:50.50) came in second followed by Huemann (1:50.84).

Junior David Dvorak touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22:04, just ahead of classmate Sam Niesen, who finished second at 22.11.

Other Milwaukee winners on the day include junior Caleb Sandvold (100 breaststroke), Jeff Maxwell (1000 freestyle) and Niesen (100 freestyle).

UWM also won both relay events, as the 'B' team took the top spot in both the 400 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.

The Panthers return home next weekend to take on Green Bay in their final dual meet of the season Saturday afternoon.
