VALPARAISO, Ind. - 
Sophomore Lindsay Caldwell accounted for two of eight Panther wins as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming and diving team rolled to a 136-100 dual meet victory over Valparaiso University Sunday afternoon in Valparaiso, Ind. With the win, UWM is now 4-4 in dual meets this season and has won 10 straight times against the Crusaders.
"This was our first real meet since December," head coach Dave Clark said. "Everyone got got workouts and worked on their racing. It was a good week to get the bugs out."
Caldwell picked up wins in both the 200 individual medley and 200 breaststroke for Milwaukee. In the 200 IM, she touched the wall in 2:11.49 while junior Julie Olson finished third in the event with a time of 2:15.86. To win the 200 breast, the West Bend, Wis. native posted a time of 2:26.94.
"Lindsay Caldwell had a heck of a swim in the IM," Clark said. "(Our whole team) did well throughout. Any event we did not win, were were two and three or in some events fourth as well.
Olson, while competing in just her second meet of the season, added a top showing in the 200 backstroke and swam with the first-place 400 medley relay. Senior Patricia Frank followed Olson's top time of 2:13.02 with a time of 2:15.91. Joining Olson on the 400 medley relay was freshmen Jessica Kelly, Briana Fergusson and Heidi Goetsch. The quartet won the event by over 17 seconds with its time of 4:11.69.
Freshman Kristin Skiba swam to a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle while she was followed by Kelly in second. The pair had times of 2:02.42 and 2:03.36 for UWM. Skiba missed out on a second event win but just .03 seconds, taking second in the 100 free in 55.74. Fellow frosh Kaite Caucutt added the final swimming win for the Panthers, winning the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:17.71. Fergusson placed third in the 200 fly in 2:22.47.
A pair of Milwaukee rookies picked up diving wins in Jenna Kotlarz and Megan McLoone. Kotlarz topped the field from the one-meter board with her score of 237.95, while McLoone was second with 220.25. In the three-meter event, McLoone took first with 178.40 points.
Senior captain Cathy Honeyager led the Panthers in the distance events, placing second in both the 500 and 1000 free. In the 500 free she completed the distance in 5:28.17 with Kelly in third in 5:35.31. She was followed by another third-place freshman in the 1000 free, as Emma McKeith followed her time of 11:03.67 with a time 11:11.90.
UWM also got second-place finishes from Goetsch and the 400 free relay, which also featured the Plymouth, Wis. native. Individually, Goetsch completed the 50 free in 26.15, while she teamed with Skiba, McKeith and Caucutt for a time of 3:45.68 in the 400 free relay.
"We are looking forward to tough competition this weekend at the Bill Ritter Invitational," Clark said. "There will be some tough teams there."
The Panthers return home next weekend (Jan. 21-22) for just their second home meet of the season when the Klotsche Center plays home to the Bill Ritter Invitational.
