MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The sophomore trio of Lindsay Caldwell, Heather Sawatzki and Bridget Fargen opened the night with a win the 400 medley relay, and combined to win four more events to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming & diving team to a 110-95 dual meet win over Wheaton College Friday evening at the Klotsche Center.

"We had some very nice swims," head coach Dave Clark said. "Our medley relay was probably our best time of the season. Both of our 400 free relays swam very well also."

Milwaukee's night opened with Caldwell, Sawatzki, Fargen and junior Emily Holcomb posting a time of 4:03.12 to top the Thunder in the 400 medley relay. Caldwell went on to post two more victories, winning both the 50 freestyke and 200 breaststroke. She touched the wall in 24.74 in the 50 free and completed the 200 breast in 2:26.92.

Sawatzki was victorious in the 200 individual medley, edging junior Patricia Frank, who took second. The pair posted times of 2:15.98 and 2:17.58, respectively. Frank would win an event of her own, finishing atop the field in the 200 backstroke with Holcomb. The winning time was 2:14.55, while Holcomb completed the distance in 2:14.55.

With a two-point advantage over Wheaton heading into the 400 free relay, UWM locked up the victory with relays taking first and second in the event. Fargen led the first-place relay, which featured freshmen Heidi Goetsch, Michal Hawker and Kristin Skiba. The underclassmen swam to a time of 3:42.74 in winning the event. Holcomb, sophomore Katie Green and freshmen Kaite Caucutt and Jessica Kelly swam as the second-place relay (3:47.38).

"To start and end the meet with relay wins really shows teams we have depth and power," Clark said.

Adding top-three finishes for the Panthers was freshmen Emma McKeith, Caucutt and Skiba. McKeith was second in the 500 free with a time of 5:18.44, and took third in the 1000 free in 10:54.03. Caucutt finished the 200 butterfly in 2:13.70 for second, while Skiba took third in the 200 free with a time of 2:01.23.

"Emma is right near ger lifetime best in the 1000 free," Clark said. "She was almost stroke-for-stroke with the woman from Wheaton. Kaite had a very good 200 fly. This is not the time of year where we get lifetime bests."

UWM wastes little time, traveling to Rochester, Mich., for a quadrangular tomorrow (Oct. 30) with Akron, Wayne State and host-Oakland. The Panthers hit the pool at 1 p.m.
