Panther Women Swept By In-State Rivals

MADISON, Wis. - Jen Kedinger, Krystina Herzog and Hannah Burgard each captured a second-place finish on the day as the Panthers dropped a pair of dual-meets in Madison Friday evening. The Panthers fell to Wisconsin, 154-82, and were defeated by UW-Green Bay by a 149-92 margin.

Kedinger was second in the 500 freestyle in5:18.74, while Herzog and Burgard split the two diving events. Herzog was second on 1m with a score of 214.50, with Burgard second on 3m with a mark of 228.55. Burgard was also third on 1m with 191.45 points, followed by Becky Rubel in fourth with 187.10. Rounding out the top five on 3m were Erin Blemberg in third with 218.80, Herzog in fourth with 214.55 and Rubel in fifth with 193.05 points.

In other events, Jessica Johnson and Amanda Schmitt were fourth and fifth in the mile, with Johnson finishing in 18:35.52 and Schmitt in 18:38.88. Beth Watt claimed third in the 100 freestyle in 55.22, with Nicole Rosinski fifth in the same event in 56.20. Emily Holcomb and Patricia Frank finished third and fifth in the 200 backstroke, with Holcomb finishing in 2:12.35 and Frank in 2:14.64. Sarah Walby added a fifth-place finish in the 500 freestyle in 5:26.68, while Kristin Cefalu was third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:29.27.

The Panthers are off until the Horizon League Championships, which begin Feb. 26 in Cleveland, Ohio.
