Nick Viall was the winner of the men's 800m run at the Smith Barney Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind., Saturday, as the Panthers continued their indoor season. Four other Panthers joined Viall in finishing in the top ten in the event, with Nick Bruskewitz and Elliot Enright finishing in the top five.
Viall won the event by posting a time of 1:55.74, while Bruskewitz was third in 1:55.89. Enright was fifth overall, finishing in 1:56.60, followed by Adam Swanson in ninth in 1:58.25 and Gabe Wagoner in 10th in 1:58.50. Four of the five also teamed up to finish as the top collegiate team in the men's mile relay, as Viall, Bruskewitz, Enright and Wagoner finished in 3:20.69.
In other events Saturday, Eric Gresham was the seventh-fastest collegiate finisher in the 400m. He finished eighth overall with a time of 50.62. Nick Davis was fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.93m, while Kyle Huebner was the ninth collegiate finisher in the pole vault. He finished 10th overall, clearing 4.25m. Steven Capela was ninth in the long jump after a best effort of 6.38m, while Sean Cludy and Scott Bambrough were third and seventh in the triple jump. Cludy's jump measured 13.85m, while Bambrough measured out at 13.05m.
The Panthers will return to action on Saturday, when they will compete at the Northern Iowa Classic in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
