Senior Peter Clark and freshman Jeff Jasinowski each won two events as the Panthers claimed a 131-104 victory over Western Illinois Saturday at the Klotsche Center Pool. Clark won the 200 and 500 freestyles, while Jasinowski swept the diving events on Senior Day for Milwaukee.
Clark won the 200 freestyle in 1:46.25, and had a winning time of 4:53.57 in the 500. Josh Baseheart was second in the 200 freestyle in 1:46.65, and also finished fourth behind Clark in the 500 free in 5:02.18. Jasinowski, meanwhile, easily claimed victory on 3m, scoring 216.82 points, and collected his double on 1m with a total of 190.27.
In other events, the men's 400 medley relay team of Jason Procto, Kyle Fyock, Rob Vergeer and Tim Watt was first in 3:36.66. Michael Belting won the 1000 freestyle in 9:44.60, while Joe Vermeulen was fourth in the event in 10:23.20. Tim Watt won the men's 50 freestyle in 22.71, with Ben Creydt in third in 22.94 and John Batty fourth in 23.15. Ryan Frohmader and Fyock finished 1-2 in the 200 individual medley, with Frohmader finishing in 2:00.66 and Fyock in 2:02.45. Vergeer and Justin O'Keefe finished second and third in the 200 fly, with Vergeer's time of 2:00.33 and O'Keefe's at 2:03.99. Watt would also finish second in the 100 free in 48.54, with Batty fourth in 49.52. Procto won the men's 200 backstroke in 1:56.15, with Belting in third in 2:00.28 and Frohmader in fourth in 2:01.06. Fyock and Mac Carlson also finished second and third in the 200 breaststroke, with Fyock turning in a time of 2:15.06 and Carlson posting a mark of 2:18.24.
The Panthers return to the pool Friday when they travel to Madison, Wis., for the annual three-way dual meet with Wisconsin and UW-Green Bay. Friday's meet begins at 5 p.m. at the UW Natatorium.
