DEKALB, Ill. - The Milwaukee men's cross country program racked up a runner-up finish at the Huskie Classic, led by a fourth-place mark turned in by Cullen Boyle. 

The Mequon, Wis. native put together a strong showing to kick off the year, completing the 6K course in 19:32.06. For the second consecutive season, Boyle finished in fourth place to begin the cross country slate, doing so at the Tom Barry Invitational in 2025. 

"Cullen Boyle looked very good from start to finish," head coach Andrew Basler said. "I know he is very motivated to close his career out strong." 

Zach Moss was the second Panther to notch a top-10 finish, turning in a time of 19:49.57 to place ninth, good for a career-best in a 6K race. 

Harper Fahey followed suit, earning a 6K personal best at 19:53.77. The senior had never run a 6K below 20 minutes prior to this evening. 

Talon Gamez and Alex Lopez-Saucedo were the final scorers at the Huskie Classic, notching times of 20:08.61 and 20:18.61, respectively. Gamez turned in his best 6K run in a Milwaukee uniform, completing the course in 20:08.61, cutting off nearly 46 seconds from last season's opener. 

"I was very proud of how the team started the season off in very warm conditions," Basler said. "We have a gritty team who is not afraid to step into a challenging environment." 

Nathan Powley finished in 19th, while Sam Blasyck was close behind in 23rd. Will Perez wrapped up Milwaukee's participants with a 32nd-place finish. 

The Panthers will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 12, as they travel north to take on the Phoenix Open, hosted by Green Bay at the Shorewood Cross Country Course.
