Panthers Place Third at Veterans Park

Boyle, Anewenter notch top-10 finishes

September 25, 2026

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee men's cross country team earned third place out of four teams Friday at Veterans Park, tallying 73 points in a shortened 7K race.

"I thought both the men and the women executed coach Priscilla Schultz's plan extremely well," head coach Andrew Basler said. "In the men's race, there was some miscommunication with the lead cart on which way to turn. The result was a shorter race than expected, but the guys handled the adversity in stride."

Cullen Boyle led the way once again with a time of 22:19.9, earning eighth place among 49 competitors. Alex Anewenter followed close behind, notching a 10th-place finish. The Port Washington, Wis. native had never placed in the top-10 in a collegiate race before Friday.

Will Whiteis and Zach Moss paced each other throughout, placing 17th and 19th, respectively. To round out the scorers, Alex Lopez-Saucedo tallied a 23rd-place finish, covering the 7K course in 22:56.7.

Jose Rodriguez, Karsten Grundahl and Dylan Longworth each made their season debuts as well, highlighted by a 25th-place finish by Rodriguez, who was the sixth Panther to cross the finish line.

Milwaukee will return to competition Friday, Oct. 2, when they travel to Indiana for the Joe Piane Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame. The meet is set to start at 9:30 a.m. CT.
