Szepieniec Indoor Athlete of the Year

Anna Szepieniec named Alfreeda Goff Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year

February 27, 2026

MILWAUKEE – Anna Szepieniec has been named the Alfreeda Goff Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year, the Horizon League announced Friday.

With the honor, Szepieniec becomes the fifth Panther in the last seven years to earn Athlete of the Year recognition. Milwaukee has now claimed the award in each of the past seven seasons, with Anelise Egge (2025), Natalie Block (2022–24), Meg Swietlik (2021), and Ashley Melvin (2020, shared) also receiving the distinction.

Szepieniec delivered a record-breaking campaign. In the long jump at the 13th annual Tierney Classic, she registered a program-record leap of 6.30 meters, surpassing the previous Milwaukee-best mark of 6.06 meters set by Samia Taylor in 2013. She then broke her own record at the Panther Tune-Up in the Klotsche Center, clearing 6.31 meters.

Szepieniec has cemented herself throughout the Panther all-time top-10 lists. She currently sits first in the long jump (6.31m), first in the pentathlon (3864 points), second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.45), third in the 200-meter dash (24.68), and fifth in the triple jump (12.45m).

At the conference level, Szepieniec holds the top spot in the 60-meter hurdles, long jump, triple jump, and pentathlon, and ranks within the top-10 in the 200-meter dash (4th) and high jump (10th).

The Horizon League also recognized her outstanding season with five weekly honors. Szepieniec earned Women's Runner of the Week accolades three times (Dec. 16, Jan. 13, Feb. 10) and was named Women's Field Athlete of the Week twice (Jan. 20, Jan. 27).
