MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee track & field's Anna Szepieniec was named Horizon League Women's Field Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office Tuesday.
 
The standout junior picked up her third weekly conference honor of the indoor season after a monster showing at the 13th annual Tierney Classic.
 
Competing in the Klotsche Center, Szepieniec captured first place in the long jump with a program-record leap of 6.30 meters. The mark shattered the previous school record of 6.06 meters, set by Samia Taylor in 2013. Szepieniec's prior personal best stood at 5.99 meters, recorded at last season's La Crosse Final Qualifier.
 
The Panthers will compete in a pair of meets this week, opening action at the Fighting Illini Challenge on Jan. 22–23 before closing the week at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational on Jan. 23–24.
