MILWAUKEE – Isaiah Dorceus of Orlando, Fla., has signed with the Milwaukee men's basketball program and will play basketball for the Panthers next season, head coach
Bart Lundy officially announced today.
Dorceus comes to Milwaukee following two very successful seasons at Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, Fla.
"Isaiah is a great player and an even better young man," Lundy said. "He is a perfect fit for our program and the University. He is a tireless worker and a player who is hungry to be the best. I'm excited to coach him and our fans will be excited to see him play."
This past winter, Dorceus was named the FCSAA (Florida College System Activities Association Athletics) Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Year after leading the Falcons to a 28-6 overall record and a run to the Elite Eight of the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship.
The 6-foot, 180-pound sophomore guard was selected as an NJCAA Division 1 First Team All-American after averaging 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 32 games (all starts). Dorceus connected on 47.0 percent (176-of-391) from the field overall, 39.5 percent (58-of-147) from three-point range, and 75.0 percent (42-of-56) from the free throw line.
Named the Citrus Conference Player of The Year and First-Team All-League, he also helped the team to the Citrus Conference Championship with a 14-2 league mark.
His team advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament both of his seasons of his career, going 28-4 his first year (56-10 over his two seasons). As a freshman, he averaged 10.0 points per game, adding 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
