RALEIGH, N.C. - The Milwaukee track & field teams kicked off their outdoor season Friday at North Carolina State's Raleigh Relays.

Fresh off winning Horizon League Indoor Athlete of the Year and Outstanding Running Performer of the Meet at the league championships,
Anelise Egge ran to program record-setting time of 16:17.41 in the 5000m.

Egge's time shattered the previous mark of 16:36.62 set back in 2009 by Holly Nearman. Overall, Egge took 38th out of the 179 runners in the competitive event featuring top runners from throughout the country.

"Anelise continues to take down records," said head coach
Andrew Basler. "This was her first 5000m on the track and her time wasn't far off from what got into the NCAA West Preliminaries last year."

Highlighting the men's team was
Divine Aniamaka, whose performance in the triple jump of 15.30m earned him second-place on the day and will rank him third on the program's outdoor leaderboard.

"Divine opened with a strong start to his outdoor campaign, his distance today qualified for last year's regionals, but we will be trying push that mark even more as the season goes on," Basler added.

Representing the women in the triple jump was
Morgan Pilate who finished 11th after reaching a distance of 11.85m.

Olivia VanZeeland and
Kallie Volk moved into sixth all-time in the school record books after clearing 1.70m in the high jump. After tiebreakers, VanZeeland grabbed fourth place, and Volk finished in 10th.

Caden Thomas for the men's program cleared 1.95 meters in the high jump to lead the way for Milwaukee's entries.

On the track,
Jaelyn Reeves-Lile improved on a career best time in the 100m dash that ranks third in school history, crossing the finish line in 10.53 to notch a seventh-place finish in an 85-runner field.

Katie Burns ran to a 56.35 performance to finish 38th out of the 115 competitors in the 400m dash.

"Jaelyn looked very smooth running a colligate-best today, and Katie had an outstanding opener, coming close to her own personal-best," Basler concluded.
Â
Anna Szepieniec rounded out the day for the Panthers posting a strong time of 14.45 in the 100m hurdles.

Action in Raleigh will continue tomorrow with field events starting at 8:30 a.m. (CT) and competition on the track beginning at 11:00 a.m. (CT).

REDBIRD CHALLENGE

The Panther's also had their hammer throwers competing at the first day of Illinois State's Redbird Challenge in Normal, Ill.
Â
Mercedes Herrera led the women's team with a sixth-place toss of 41.50m to give her a new career-best mark.
Tayler Liesch joined Herrera in the event with a throw of 36.10m.

On the men's side
Jeremiah Johnson launched one 47.33m to claim ninth on the day. Meanwhile,
Josh Cygan made his outdoor colligate debut with a mark of 40.47m.

The meet will continue with a full slate Saturday, field events getting underway at 10:00 a.m. (CT), followed by track events at 12:00 p.m. (CT).
