Swim & Dive Wraps Up Weekend at Wisconsin First Chance Meet

MADISON, Wis. - The Milwaukee swimming & diving teams wrapped up action at the second day of the Wisconsin First Chance Meet on Saturday.
 
The women had a strong showing with 13 top-five finishes, while the Panther men added six top-five marks of their own on the day.
 
Leading the way for the Panthers was Brielle Laube winning the 100 butterfly by finishing in 57.82 to open the day.  Sasha Gesner was able to grab second place in the event with a time of 59.74.
 
"This meet went great," said head coach Kyle Clements. "We are in prime racing form. It was a fast three sessions, but we were able to keep swimming well throughout."
 
In the 100 breaststroke, Elena Zippel claimed the second spot, notching a time of 1:07.07. Right behind Zippel in third place was Bella Sponseller at 1:07.26. Larry Rattler competed in the men's 100 breaststroke and took fourth with a time of 57.09.
 
Milwaukee got another second-place finish in the 100 backstroke with Kylee Radigan, who registered a time of 58.99. Leading the men in the event was Kevin Soltys touching the wall in 50.58 for a third-place finish.
 
Opening the afternoon session on Saturday in the 200 backstroke, Emery Reszka (1:51.28) finished fourth.
 
Noelle Bryan paced the Panthers at 52.57 in the 100 freestyle, good enough for fourth place on the day. Meanwhile, on the men's side Etienne Dolezal led the Panthers with a 46.29.
 
Also recording a top-five finish, Asa Sadowsky was the top performer for Milwaukee in the 200 butterfly, recording a time of 1:55.35. Allie Buytendorp competed her way to a time of 2:15.46 in the event.
 
"These athletes give us a glimpse of how we will swim at the Horizon League Championships," added Clements. "If we can compete as well as we did this weekend, we will be in good shape at the Championship Meet."

Milwaukee will now look ahead to the Horizon League Championships, running from Feb. 19-22 in Indianapolis, Ind. at the IU Natatorium on the IU Indy campus. Action on Feb. 19 will begin with the men's 3m diving at 1:00 p.m., all four days of the meet are scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN+.
