STEVENS POINT, Wis.- The Milwaukee men's swimming & diving team used a dominant performance to beat Stevens Point, 206-71, in its final dual meet of the season. Highlighting the night were two-win performances from both
Gunnar Seversen and
Alvin Valkki.

The Panthers had first-place finishes in 13 events, with nine different athletes picking up wins on the day, to finish the season 3-2 in dual meets.

"Great way to end our dual meet season. Going into these late season meets on the road you never know how they are going to go" said head coach
Kyle Clements. "I was very happy to see that the overall result carried over from last weekend."

Seversen got things started in the 200 freestyle winning the event with a time of 1:42.06. He followed that up in the 200 backstroke claiming a second top finish, touching the wall in 1:53.96.

Valkki was the other multi-event winner on the day, starting with finishing on top in the 100 breaststroke at 58.50. His second came in the 200 individual medley by finishing in 2:00.01.

The 100 backstroke was taken by
Victor Kostov's 53.34 performance.
Trevor Nicodemus earned his first collegiate win in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:12.63 finish.

Moving to the freestyle events,
Ben Lorenz used a time of 20.81 to move into the winner's circle in the 50.
Charlie House came away on top of the 100 (46.85), and
Jay Jensen (4:36.08) took the crown in the 500.

Caleb Carlisle posted a time of 49.85 in the 100 butterfly to come away with another victory for the Panthers. Rounding out the individual winners on the day was
Nik Wheeler with a first-place finish in the 200 butterfly, clocking in at 1:59.31.

Milwaukee bookended the meet with two relay wins, beginning with the 200 medley (1:34.35), and wrapping things up in the 400 freestyle (3:03.28).

"We have done nothing but pace and fine tune our championship events over the last month, and now it's time to rest" finished Clements. The next time we race these events they will be even better."

The Panthers will be at the Wisconsin First Chance Meet Feb. 7-8 in Madison, Wis. The meet will be the final tune-up for the team before the Horizon League Championships Feb. 19-22.
