Themus Fulks Signs With Milwaukee Men’s Basketball

Point guard rounds out Lundy’s offseason roster

May 13, 2024

MILWAUKEE – Themus Fulks has signed to play next season with the Milwaukee men's basketball program, head coach Bart Lundy officially announced today.

Fulks, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound point guard, will transfer into the MKE program following two successful seasons at Louisiana Lafayette.

"We are so excited about the signing of Themus Fulks," Lundy said. "We get to bring in a high-character point guard who has led his team to the NCAA Tournament. He will be a fan favorite and has seen where our program wants to go in the near future and is excited to be a part of it."

A starter in all 29 games he appeared in this past season, Fulks averaged 10.6 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game, shooting 77.3 percent from the free throw line. He scored a season-high 25 points at Toledo in November and also recorded a 10-assist performance at Texas State in January.

That followed a sophomore campaign when he started all 34 games and contributed 9.2 points, 6.0 assists, and 2.9 rebounds a game while leading his team to the NCAA Tournament. Fulks scored a career-high 23 points in the Sun Belt Championship game against South Alabama and dished out 11 assists in the NCAA Tournament against Tennessee, nearly leading his team to an upset of the No. 4 seed. He finished the season tops in the Sun Belt in both total assists and assists per game while leading the offense for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Fulks spent the 2021-22 season at Dodge City Community College where he led the Conquistadors to the Elite Eight of the NJCAA National Tournament under head coach Jake Williams, who just wrapped up his second season on the Milwaukee staff as an assistant.

"Themus visited us two years ago, along with BJ Freeman at the time, [Fulks and Freeman were teammates at Dodge City] and chose Louisiana Lafayette as the next step for him in his career," Lundy said. "He had two great years with them and has now seen the vision we have for him here and is choosing to become a Panther."

Fulks directed the team to a 30-5 mark, setting a school record for wins. The Conquistadors advanced to the National Tournament for the first time since 1974, while winning the Region VI title for the first time since 1982, and the KJCCC title for the first time since 2007.

He was named NJCAA Second Team All-American after averaging 17.1 points, 5.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.5 steals a game, shooting 55.4 percent overall and 41.5 percent from beyond the arc. Fulks finished the season fourth in single-season points (600), field goals made (219), and assists in school history, while also ranking fifth in free throws made in a single season. He also ranked 11th nationally in free throws made (145) and total assists (190). In addition, he picked up Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Newcomer of the Year accolades, First-Team All-KJCCC honors, Region VI Tournament MVP, and NJCAA Division I National Tournament All-Tournament team honors. Fulks began his collegiate career at South Carolina State where he averaged 6.9 points, 3.2 assists and 1.8 rebounds for the Bulldogs as a true freshman.
