Panthers Top Three Podiums at Eagle Open

LA CROSSE – A small group of Milwaukee track & field athletes competed today the Eagle Open in La Crosse, Wisconsin, winning three events and grabbing four additional spots across the various podiums.
 
Natalie Block and Kynnedi Malone finished first and second in the 100m hurdles, finishing in 13.42 and 13.84 seconds, respectively. The pair ran even faster in prelims, putting up times of 13.28 and 13.81 seconds. Both of Block's times were faster than the previous facility record of 13.65.
 
Caleb Henry won the 400m by over a quarter of second, posting a time of 47.78, just 0.05 off the facility record.
 
Anna Szepieniec topped the field in the long jump, winning with a leap of 5.65m (18'6.5") on her final attempt of the day.
 
Adaline Powell grabbed second in the triple jump, reaching 11.89m (39'0.25") on her fifth attempt of the day. Chris Hudnall finished in second place in the 110m hurdles, crossing the line in 14.47 seconds.
 
Will Mortimer recorded a third-place finish in the long jump, as his first jump of the day went out to 7.12m (23'4.5").
 
Madison Hughes turned in a seventh-place finish in the 5000m, running a time of19:15.33. Olivia Busch also finished grabbed a seventh-place finish, hers coming in the javelin throw with a distance of 35.25m (115'7").
 
Evan Bartelsen and Jack Browne were both scheduled to compete in the pole vault but were unable due to weather. Unfavorable wind conditions forced officials to cancel the event for athlete safety.
 
As of now, the Eagle Open marks the final competition before the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, which are scheduled for May 22-25 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
