Block Alfreeda Goff Winner 2024

Natalie Block Named Alfreeda Goff Indoor Track & Field Women's Athlete of the Year

Block earns the award for third straight year

February 23, 2024

INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee Track & Field's Natalie Block has been named the 2024 Alfreeda Goff Indoor Track & Field Women's Athlete of the Year for the third consecutive season, the Horizon League office announced today.

Milwaukee has now seen five consecutive Panthers selected as Athlete of the Year, as Ashley Melvin (2020) and Meg Swietlik (2021) preceded Block's first reception of the award. Block's third consecutive selection marks the 11th in Milwaukee women's track & field history since the award was introduced in 2003.

Block now joins former Panther Tenia Fisher, who also won the award three years in a row, with Fisher's coming in 2004-2006. No athlete from any other Horizon League program has earned the honor more than twice, with only three other repeat honorees since the award's introduction.

During the indoor season, Block has kept to her record-breaking ways, setting new program records in three different events. Her two records of the year came at the Badgers Midwest Invite in Chicago, where she lowered her 60m hurdle record to 8.33 seconds, winning the event. She then won the 300m dash with another program record time of 38.52 seconds.

The senior Panther then followed up that performance by breaking the 60m hurdle record again, just one week later at the Tierney Classic. Block won the event in 8.25 seconds. At Big Meet Friday, Block had another multi-record meet, as she lowered her 60mH mark to 8.22 and broke the 400m record with a 54.58 performance.

Through the regular season, Block has turned in a win in the 400m dash, a win in the 300m dash, and six wins in the 60m hurdles. She has earned Horizon League Women's Runner of the Week honors on four occasions and holds the top conference time in all three events mentioned above.

Block is also ranked nationally in all three events, as her times rank 37th (60mH), 44th (300m), and 118th (400m).

Block will join her team this weekend at the Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Championships in Youngstown, Ohio. The meet opens at 9:00 a.m. on February 24th and runs through the afternoon of the 25th.
