CHICAGO- The Milwaukee men's track & field team competed in its first meet Friday at DePaul's Blue Demon Holiday Invite.
Jaelyn Reeves-Lile highlighted the day for the Panthers, setting the school record in the 60-meter dash, and winning the 200-meter dash.
Â
"
Jaelyn Reeves-Lile had an outstanding first meet, breaking the school record in the 60-meter dash and almost breaking the record in the 200-meter dash is a great way to start the season," said head coach
Andrew Basler.
Â
Reeves-Lile's 60-meter time of 6.76, takes down the previous record of 6.79 set by
Golden Cotton in 2023. His winning time of 21.61 in the 200 meter was good for third-best in the program's history.
Â
"We brought a small group down here, but we had a lot of positive results," continued Basler, "The hurdlers did really well – Iyimi was right there close to winning his first college meet."
Â
Iyimi Fagbamiye made major waves in his colligate debut, taking second in the 60-meter hurdles, and moving into the record books with the seventh-best time in school history at 8.06.
Â
Also finding the podium in his first college meet,
Ethan Mitchell reached second place in the long jump hitting a distance of 6.91 meters.
Caden Thomas was another standout jumper tying for third place at a height of 1.98 meters.
