Panthers Close Weekend Trip With Win Over Wheaton

WHEATON, ILL.- The Milwaukee women's swimming & diving team returned to action on a quick turnaround to matchup with Wheaton (Ill.) Saturday afternoon, putting together an impressive meet as the 2024 portion of the dual schedule came to a close.
 
The Panthers dominated the leaderboard, winning by a score of 157-62, to moves them to 2-1 on the season.
 
"Saturday was a good end to our fall dual meet season," head coach Kyle Clements said. "We were able to race some of our 'off' events that we don't get to swim in a standard dual meet, but we will have to swim in a championship format. Getting those reps against another good team does nothing but help us in the future."
 
Milwaukee impressed all day, finishing in the top spot in 10 of the 11 swimming events, with seven different individual winners.
 
The winning started early in the first event, taking the top four spots in the 200 medley relay, with the winning team finishing in 1:48.68. Milwaukee also finished with the top three teams in the 200 freestyle relay, the first one with a time of 1:38.26.
 
Natalie DiProspero had a huge afternoon, capturing first place in the 1000 (10:51.43) and 100 (53.72) freestyle, as well as helping the 200 freestyle team with their win. In the 1000 freestyle, the Panthers ended up finishing with the top five spots in the event.
 
In the 200 freestyle, Grace Hudson claimed the top spot (1:55.67), while Elena Zippel followed her up in the 50 freestyle (24.60) touching the wall first as well. Closing out the sweep of freestyle events, was Johanna Edgren (5:15.06) in the 500.
 
Moving to the 100 breaststroke, Hanna DeGrace took care of business moving through the event in 1:08.96. Maddi Hayashi continued the dominance in the 100 butterfly, touching the wall in 57.93. Christiana Brooks rounded out the winners in the pool taking first in the 100 backstroke (58.25)
 
Clements finished saying. "The team continues to swim faster and faster even though we were on a back-to-back on the road, which is a good sign going into the House of Champions meet that is a three-day meet."

Milwaukee will compete next at the IU Indianapolis House of Champions Meet, taking place from Thursday, Nov. 21 to Saturday, Nov. 23, at IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.
