BROWN DEER, WIS.- The Milwaukee men's swimming and diving team opened its season at the Wisconsin Showcase Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers grabbed eight first-place finishes in the event. Winners included
Ben Lorenz,
Charlie House,
Gunnar Seversen,
Jay Jensen, and
Ben Stitgen. The 200 freestyle relay team also took first place with a time of 1:23.58.
Charlie House won both the 100 and 200 freestyles with times of 46.52 and 1:43.28 respectively. While
Gunnar Seversen - in his collegiate debut - won the 500 freestyle (4:41.84) and 400 individual medley (4:08.20).
Ben Lorenz took first in the 50 freestyle with a winning time of 20.87, and
Jay Jensen rounded out the swimming winners, claiming the top spot with a time of 1:55.23 in the 200 individual medley.
On the diving board
Ben Stitgen won the 1m dive with a score of 257.63 and the 3m, scoring 275.85.
Azaan McCray took second in the 1m (234.98) and
Will Francis took second in the 3m (219.83).
"It's always fun to see and race our friends from across the state" said head coach
Kyle Clements. "It's too early in the season for all of us to judge where we will be in February, but this meet gives us a glimpse of where we are now. For us there is a lot of work to be down but the initial times of been thrown down, and now we have to build upon them."

The Panthers will be back Saturday, Oct. 26 at 11:00 a.m. when they host IU Indianapolis for the first dual meet of the season at Klotsche Natatorium.
