MILWAUKEE – On Friday the Milwaukee men's & women's track & field programs took part in a pair of events in attempts to improve upon their season-best marks in advance of the upcoming NCAA preliminaries in California later this month.
Â
The Panthers took part in the Carius-Gregory Invite hosted by North Central in Naperville, Illinois, while also competing at the UW-La Crosse Eagle Invite. Milwaukee registered one individual win with their lone representative in Illinois, while the Panthers added three more wins in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Â
Carius-Gregory Invite Summary
"At North Central, our lone competitor
Trevor Wenzel had the goal of PR'ing and getting ahead of Coach
Jake Reilly on the all-time 1500m list," commented head coach
Andrew Basler. "Trevor ran a great race and narrowly surpassed Coach Reilly."
Wenzel was entered in the 1500m run in Illinois and picked up the win in the event with a time of 3:50.12. The time improved upon his season-best by eight seconds, which was set at the Marquette Invitational on April 22. The mark was also his career-best and was the fourth-best time in program history, surpassing Reilly's mark of 3:50.94 set in 2011.

Eagle Invite Summary
"The group that went to La Crosse had the goal of pushing their marks and trying to get in the top-48 in their event in the NCAA West region," noted Basler. "
Annie Guerrero was able to repeat her 1.75m and she is sitting inside that 48th spot. In pole vault,
Kate Watson attempted a height that would have punched her ticket but fell a little short, she is currently 51st and will have to wait to see if there are scratches.
Dylan Sieloff looked great at 4.91m, so Coach
Zachary Schmidt and Dylan decided to take some attempts at a school record height of 5.16m. He had three really good looks to close out his career as a Panther."
Milwaukee had six student-athletes entered in the event hosted in Southwest Wisconsin. All of Milwaukee's entrants had top-four finishes, with a trio of wins by Guerrero in the high jump,
Adaline Powell in the triple jump and Sieloff in the pole vault.
Â
Guerrero won the high jump clearing a height of 1.75 meters on her first of three attempts to tie her season and program-best marks.
Â
Powell won the triple jump at 12.12 meters on her fourth jump of the afternoon.
Â
Sieloff was tops in the pole vault as he tied his season-high with a height of 4.91 meters, tying his own third-best mark in program history.
Evan Bartelsen, who also has season and career-best mark of 4.91 meters, took third place on Friday by clearing 4.71 meters on his first attempt.
Â
Watson was second in the pole vault clearing a height of 3.78 meters on her third attempt at that height. Watson's season-best was 3.96 meters at the Gary Wieneke Memorial in mid-April, while her career-best mark is 4.03 meters set back in 2022.
Â
Caleb Rogalski had a throw of 44.73 meters in his final attempt of the day in the discus, as he finished fourth in the event.
