MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee men's swimming & diving program started their weekend strong with a 147-84 win over the visiting Davenport University Panthers today at the Klotsche Natatorium. Of the thirteen different events, Milwaukee won ten while placing top three in every single one.
"It was a great start to our weekend," head coach
Kyle Clements said. "We haven't seen the 200s of stroke events for a couple of weeks, and it was fun to see how far they've come since we last swam them. The fast part of the fall season is almost here and we as a team are starting to round into form."
Ben Lorenz had one of his best performances of this young season, winning the 50 yard freestyle and anchoring the Panthers' first place 200 yard medley relay and 200 yard freestyle relay teams.
Charlie House swam the first leg of Milwaukee's 200 yard freestyle relay team while also taking first in the 100 and 200 yard freestyles.
Jay Jensen took the crown on the distance freestyles, winning both the 500 and 1000 yard races.
Adam St. John and
Ben Stitgen put together two solid performances on the boards, taking the top two spots on both heights. St. John won the 1 meter with a score of 300.53 and Stitgen took the 3 meter crown with a 296.78 mark.
St. John's score on the 1 meter board qualifies him for the NCAA D1 Zone D Diving Championships in Houston, taking place March 11-13.
Jackson Ahrens had a solid meet as he took the top spot in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 47.76 seconds, took second to House in the 200 yard freestyle, and helped the 200 yard freestyle relay team to a victory.
Nicholas Klenner was the first to touch the wall in the 200 yard backstroke, and
Nik Wheeler took the crown in the 200 yard butterfly. Wheeler was also a part of the 200 yard medley relay team that took the top spot.
Andrew Jones helped the 200 yard medley relay team to a crown, while taking second in both the 200 yard Individual Medley and the 200 yard breaststroke.
After today's win, the Panthers have a quick turnaround, getting less than 24 hours of rest before hosting Wheaton College at 1 PM tomorrow afternoon.
