INDIANAPOLIS – The Milwaukee men's swimming and diving program fell to both IUPUI and Cleveland State on Saturday in their first conference tri-meet of the season. The Panthers fell by scores of 71-227 and 117-181, respectively.
While Milwaukee was unable to take first in any of the events, they did have multiple Panthers place top three in their respective events.
Jay Jensen placed third in the 200 and 500 yard freestyles, while also helping the 200 yard freestyle relay team to a third place finish.
"It was a good trip for us down to Indy," head coach
Kyle Clements commented. "We didn't get done with our meet until 7 PM Friday night and we pulled away from campus to head to Indianapolis less than twelve hours later.
"In any circumstances Saturday was not going to be easy," Clements continued. "But we made the most out of it and came home with some things to work on and some fast times."
Charlie House continued a strong start to his freshman campaign with a second-place finish in the 100 yard freestyle, while
Ben Lorenz placed third in the 50 yard freestyle, touching the wall less than half of a second behind the first place finisher. Both House and Lorenz were a part of the 200 yard freestyle relay team, along with Jensen and
Jackson Ahrens.
Hayden Christiansen grabbed a third-place finish in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 24.14 seconds, and
Andrew Jones took third place in the 50 yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 26.79 seconds.
Adam St. John put together another strong showing on the 3 meter board, scoring 275.15 and placing second.
The Panthers are back at the Klotsche next weekend for a two meet homestand, hosting Davenport University and Wheaton College. Davenport will be in town for a 3 PM meet on Friday, and Milwaukee will face Wheaton at 1 PM on Saturday.
