Milwaukee Athletics Releases Next Title IX Video

MILWAUKEE – With the official 50-year anniversary of the signing of Title IX legislation coming in late June, the Milwaukee Athletic Department continues its campaign of content for the summer surrounding the law that changed the landscape of college athletics and created equal opportunities for all female student-athletes at the collegiate level.

The Milwaukee Athletic website is featuring a variety of Title IX content for the duration of the summer and into the start of the school year, helping to honor the former student-athletes and staff members who paved the way for the incredible success of female athletes and women's sports at Milwaukee, which includes 10 national academic All-Americans as well as 61 combined league team championships by women's teams, and appearances in 34 NCAA Tournaments in program history.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is the comprehensive law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex in all programs or activities in all federally funded educational institutions including high schools and middle schools. Since the enactment of Title IX, there has been a dramatic increase in interscholastic and intercollegiate athletic opportunities for girls and women.

The content started June 1 on MKE social media channels and includes a weekly video series, entitled "Women of Milwaukee Athletics". The second installment can be seen HERE and is also embedded below.
