MILWAUKEE, Wis. –
Mitchell Buban and
Luke Seidel of the Milwaukee baseball team were named to this year's Horizon League All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday morning.
To be eligible for the Horizon League All-Academic team, student-athletes must participate in 50 percent of the team's overall games, completed one year at the school, and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
The award marks the third straight All-Academic Team honor for Buban, who owns a 3.87 GPA and will finish his degree in biological science as a pre-dentistry student in May. Buban, who has been at shortstop nearly every game since stepping on campus, ranks third in the program's history in games played (214) and second with 54 hit by pitch. This season, Buban owns a .250/.375/.386 slash line and has driven in 24 runs and scored 25 for the Panthers.
For Seidel, it is his first All-Academic Team honor. The junior boasts a 3.58 GPA and is working toward his degree in marketing. Seidel has raked in conference play, hitting a team-best .360 with a .457 on-base percentage in 24 league games, both of which rank top 10 in the Horizon League. Overall, Seidel has 10 extra-base hits and has scored 31 runs while driving in 19. He also leads the team with 15 stolen bases, which ranks third in the league.
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with season Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports.
