MILWAUKEE, Wis. –
Nick Gilhaus of the Milwaukee baseball team was named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week after an impressive outing at BYU last weekend.
The award marks the first weekly honor for the sophomore and second for the Panthers this season after
Mitchell Buban was named Batter of the Week on February 22.
Gilhaus earned his first start of the season on Thursday and tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and striking out five. Gilhaus set the pace for Milwaukee, who pitched its first shutout of the year after the bullpen closed with two scoreless frames after the righty. In 10.2 innings this season, Gilhaus has allowed just two earned runs, striking out 11 and owning a 1.69 ERA.
Milwaukee heads to Ohio this weekend for three games against Dayton beginning on Friday, March 11.
