Panthers Finish Dual Season Undefeated

Team preps for Horizon League Championships

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's swim team closed the dual season against UW-Stevens Point on Saturday afternoon, winning 196-64 on Senior Day inside the Klotsche Natatorium.

With the win, the Panthers improved to 7-0 in duals on the season, the first time since 2016-2017 that the team was undefeated. Against the Pointers, Milwaukee claimed 13 individual victories along with eight runner-up finishes.

"We want to congratulate our seniors," head coach Kyle Clements said. "They have put in years of hard work and dedication and have done nothing but represent our team and university in the best way possible. As a program we ended our dual season on a high note today. The women finished their dual meet season undefeated for the first time since 2016-2017, and the men finished with a winning record for the first time since 2012-2013."

Angela Kordik had a busy day for the Panthers, collecting a pair of individual victories along with a runner-up finish. Kordik placed first in the 200 breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:28.52 and tied Riley Melendy for first in the 200 IM at 2:13.45. She also was runner-up in the 100 breast (1:05.99), finishing just behind Makaila Scheiblein (1:05.93).

Nhia Caras added another win to her freshman season, touching the wall at 23.89 in the 50 free to finish first. Kelen McDaniels placed second in the event with a time of 24.58.

In the 200 free, Sydney Dahl placed first at 1:56.9s with Meghan Jagdfeld closed behind for second at 1:57.95. Megan Greenley (53.26) finished first in the 100 free, while Natalie Hey was second at 54.12.

Three other Panthers took home individual wins, including Bella Passamani (2:10.39) in the 200 butterfly, Sasha Gesner (5:12.25) in the 500 free, and Molly Meland (58.88) in the 100 fly.

Antoni Haupt posted the top time of the season in the 1000 free, finishing second at 10:37.13.

The team tallied a pair of relay wins, including new season-best time in the 200 free relay, Hey, McDaniels, Cassandra Hutchins, and Nhia Caras posted a time of 1:37.24, improving upon the previous season top mark set in yesterday's dual against St. Thomas.

Milwaukee will conclude its season at the Horizon League Championships, which begins Wednesday, February 16 in Indianapolis.

"We are now solely focused on Horizon League Championships," Clements said. "We're looking forward to finishing this year off on a fast note."
