MILWAUKEE, Wis. –
Megan Walstad of the Milwaukee women's basketball team was named to this year's Horizon League All-Academic Team, announced by the league office on Thursday.
To be eligible for the Horizon League All-Academic team, student-athletes must participate in 50 percent of the team's overall games, have completed one year at the school, and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
Walstad is working toward a double major in marketing and psychology and holds a 3.944 grade point average. It marks the first All-Academic Team honor for Walstad and the fourth in the last six years for the women's basketball team. She was one of 29 nominees for the award.
The Apple Valley, Minnesota, native has dominated on the court as well, leading the team and ranking in the league's top 10 in points per game (15.0), rebounds per game (8.7), field goal percentage (49.5), free throw percentage (88.8), and blocks per game (1.6).
Milwaukee will wrap up the regular season this weekend beginning with Cleveland State on Thursday, February 24 at 6:00 pm CT.
