SCOUTING THE REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Milwaukee got the lay of the land earlier this season, racing at the John McNichols Invite which is also held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course.

At last year's regional championship, the men placed 18th of 30 teams while the women placed 15th of 31 teams, their highest finish since 2006.

Trevor Wenzel, Aidan Sodemann, Ian Nadolski, Bryce Tome, Carter Eckhoff, and Gavin Czarnecki will travel for the men while Emily Burns, Anelise Egge, Brittany Helm, Rachel Helm, Madison Hughes, Cailin Kinas, and Meg Swietlik will be on the trip for the women.

LAST TIME OUT
The Milwaukee women's cross country team captured its third straight Horizon League Championship and fourth in the last five years. Three runners crossed in the top 10 with Meg Swietlik's third-place finish leading the way.

On the men's side, the Panthers finished 5th with Trevor Wenzel's sixth-place leading the charge.

PULLING IN AWARDS
Thanks to the top-seven finish at the Horizon League Championships, Meg Swietlik and Cailin Kinas each were named All-League First Team. Trevor Wenzel finished sixth on the men's side as he also collected an All-League First Team nod.

Anelise Egge was named Fresham of the Year after placing 10th while associate head coach Jake Reilly earned his fourth Coach of the Year honor. Emily Burns joined Egge on the All-League Second team.

Egge picked up her first weekly honor as she was named Horizon League Freshman Runner of the Week for her result at the Bradley Pink Classic. Egge helped the Panthers to a top-10 finish in the white race, crossing in a career-best 22:24.1.

As a whole, the Panthers earned four weekly honors this season. Ian Nadolski picked up the first for MKE as Horizon League Runner of the Week on September 13. One week later, Meg Swietlik earned the honor from her performance at the John McNichols Invite. Anna Gallagher then was named Freshman Runner of the Week on October 4 before Egge followed.

NEXT UP
The top two teams from all nine regional championships automatically qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships which take place on Saturday, November 19. The NCAA DI Cross Country Subcommittee will then choose 13 at-large teams to fill out the 31-team field. Individually, the first four finishers who do not belong to an automatic qualifier or an at-large team automatically advance to the championships. All four finishers have to finish in the top 25 within their region. Altogether, 36 individuals automatically qualify and two are chosen at-large, making 38 the grand total. The two at-large selections are the highest placing individuals at a regional that were not automatic qualifiers.
