Cantley Promoted to Associate Head Coach

Enters her fourth year on the Panthers’ staff

MILWAUKEE, Wis.Stacy Cantley has been promoted to Associate Head Coach for the Milwaukee Women's Basketball team, announced Monday afternoon by head coach Kyle Rechlicz.

Cantley enters her fourth season on staff, having spent the last three years as an assistant coach.

"Stacy is incredibly deserving of this promotion to Associate Head Coach," Rechlicz commented. "Her years of experience at every level of Division I has proved to be invaluable to our program. Our staff and post players in particular have benefited from her knowledge. She is as loyal as she is caring, and I am proud to have her leadership by my side for our young women here at Milwaukee."

Cantley has played an integral part in the Panthers' success since joining the staff in 2018-19. Over the last three years, Milwaukee has totaled 50 victories, a Horizon League regular season championship, and a trip to the postseason WNIT.

"I am humbled and honored for this incredible opportunity that Coach Rechlicz has given me," Cantley said. "It's a blessing that I am able to work with this amazing staff and group of young ladies day in and day out. Milwaukee is a very special place to be and I'm  happy to call it my home."

Prior to joining Milwaukee, Cantley spent three seasons at Western Carolina and has over 20 years of coaching experience. Before her time with the Catamounts, Cantley spent four seasons at Wisconsin including her first season on the bench alongside Rechlicz in 2010-11.

Before her time in Madison, Cantley was part of a long run of success at Virginia Tech. She helped the Hokies rack up 110 wins in her seven years in Blacksburg, advancing to three postseason tournaments, including two NCAA Tournament appearances. While with the Hokies, Cantley coached two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference honoree Kerri Gardin and Nare Diawara, the highest WNBA draftee in Virginia Tech history.
