MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Freshman
Nadia Vo edged the long jump field on Saturday, winning the title at the Horizon League Championships. Vo recorded a mark of 5.61 meters to edge the second place competitor by one hundredth of a meter.
"I think today felt a little more like typical track and field championships with both the ups and downs. I thought we started off really well today with the men's heptathlon sweeping the podium. I was really happy with them all weekend."
"One of the highlights today was Nadia in the long jump," Basler continued. "YSU's Jessica Stever jumped 5.60 and she followed with 5.61. Congrats to her, I'm really proud of her."
As a team, Milwaukee sits in second with 70.83 points, trailing Youngstown State, who holds first with 72.66 points.
Vo set a new personal record mark, topping her previous best of 5.84 which was set earlier this season.
Lauren Lietzke led the Panthers in the shot put, placing second with a throw of 14.06 meters, a new personal record. The mark moved her up to third on Milwaukee's all-time list.
Chieme Udaku set herself up for tomorrow's 60-meter dash final after placing sixth with a 7.81-second finish in the 60-meter preliminaries.
In the 800-meter preliminarily,
Aubrey Anderson placed third with a time of 2:20.10.
