MILWAUKEE – Patrick Baldwin Jr. of the Milwaukee men's basketball team has been named the Horizon League Nike® Freshman of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon.
Baldwin Jr. returned after missing three games due to injury to lead the Panthers to a 77-69 victory over RMU Saturday on ESPNU. He finished with a game-high 26 points, going 6-for-6 from 3-point range, while adding seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. The 6-of-6 showing from long-distance equaled the 30-year old school record for best 3-point field-goal percentage in a game.
The 26 points were the second-most points scored in a Horizon League game this season and also the third-most scored by a freshman in a single game in Milwaukee program history, trailing only games of 31 and 29 all-time.
He's just the third MKE freshman to win the league honor all-time (it started for the 2013-14 season) and now becomes the first from Milwaukee to win it twice in the same season.
