MILWAUKEE – A total of five members of the Milwaukee women's soccer team were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Team yesterday.
Rachel Phillpotts,
Gaby Schwartz,
Mackenzie Schill, and
Elaina LaMacchia were all selected to the First Team, with
Jelena Sever rounding out the list with Second-Team All-Region accolades.
The group represents the highest total number of players to earn all-region status in one season in program history, topping the prior mark of four set both in 2011 and 2008.

The Panthers are one of just two teams in the North Region with four members of the first team (joining Rutgers), while just three other Horizon League players total made the all-region cut following the 2021 campaign.
For Phillpotts, it's the second-straight season on the first team, the first Panther to accomplish that feat since Sarah Hagen (2011/2010/2008). Sever picked up second-team honors in back-to-back seasons, while the award is a career-first for Schill, Schwartz, and LaMacchia.
Phillpotts was named Horizon League Defender of the Year this fall as well as a member of the First Team All-Horizon League and played a crucial role in the Panthers posting 16 shutouts this season. In addition, Phillpotts was a force on corner kicks ad set pieces and contributed 16 points on six goals and four assists in 21 games. She was named Horizon League Player of the Week October 25, after scoring for the fifth time in eight games when she notched the game-winner against Oakland to help MKE claim the regular-season crown. The first-team all-league honor marks three seasons in a row for her – the first Panther to do so since Sarah Hagen went for four straight (2008-11).
Schwartz, a 2021 and 2019 All-Horizon League First Team member, started all 21 games for the Panthers this year, helping the team post an NCAA-leading 0.37 goals-against average and 16 shutouts in those 21 contests. Despite her role as a backline defender, she again contributed heavily on offense, leading the nation at the NCAA Division I level with a new school record of 19 assists. It's the third straight season she topped the conference in the category. She finished with 23 points (adding a pair of goals) and also set a new MKE career assist record, finishing with 42.
Schill was named the Horizon League Player of the Year this fall, as well as the Offensive Player of the Year and to the First Team. Schill really made her mark on the Fall 2021 campaign, ranking 29
th in the NCAA with a league-best 12 goals and 38
th with her HL-best 29 points. She also became the career games-played leader, finishing with 91 to break the former mark of 87.
LaMacchia was named First-Team All-League and the Goalkeeper of the Year after another incredible season, currently sitting first in the nation with her 0.42 goals-against average and second across the NCAA DI level with her .882 save percentage. LaMacchia posted nine solo shutouts – to give her 32 for her career – but also helped the MKE defense combine for six others she started. The 16 total clean sheets has led to that NCAA-leading 0.37 GAA as a team.
Sever posted 16 points on seven goals and two assists, tied for fourth in the league in goals and in the Top 10 in scoring. She was clutch, with five of her seven goals going down as game-winners, tops in the league and 17
th in the NCAA. Sever was a first-team all-league selection last season (second-team this fall) and memorably established a new NCAA record back in September when she scored on the opening kick against Youngstown State to set an NCAA record with her three-second goal to start a match.
