MILWAUKEE, Wis. –
Jess Grabowski,
Ari Miller, and
Rylie Vaughn were each named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
To be eligible for the Horizon League All-Academic team, student-athletes must participate in 50 percent of the team's overall games, completed one year at the school, and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
It is the first All-Academic honor for Grabowski, who owns a 3.82 GPA and is working toward a degree in accounting and marketing. The senior has been an anchor for the Milwaukee defense, leading the team with 471 digs. Grabowski has recorded at least 10 digs in 24 matches this year and is fourth in the league with 4.28 digs per set.
The accolade marks Miller's second straight after also being named All-Academic a season ago. She has proven to be one of the best players in the Horizon League, leading with a .388 attack percentage and ranking fourth in kills per set (3.56) and points per set (4.10). Miller has a 3.99 GPA with a focus in health care administration.
It is also Vaughn's first All-Academic award as she was named to the list with a 3.86 GPA in her work towards a communications degree. Vaughn has taken the reigns of the offense and leads with a career-high 1,018 assists in addition to 332 digs. In league play, the senior leads the Horizon League with an average of 11.57 assists per set.
The trio helped the Panthers clinch their 14th regular season title in program history to earn the right to host the Horizon League Tournament as the No. 1 seed. The three-day tournament will begin on Friday, November 19 from the Klotsche Center.
