LEXINGTON, Ky. – Earning honor roll status for the seventh time in the last eight seasons, the Milwaukee volleyball team earned its annual Team Academic Award, as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Thursday morning.
 
The Team Academic Award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. The Panthers recorded a team GPA of 3.719 in the fall semester and a 3.827 in the spring. To earn Honor Roll status, a team must be in the top 20 percent of team GPAs among all NCAA Division I programs.
 
Milwaukee is one of 230 Division I programs to receive the 2025-26 Team Academic Award and one of just 50 programs to earn Honor Roll status.
 
"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."
 
This marks the eighth consecutive season that Milwaukee has been recognized by the AVCA and 12th time of the last 13 seasons, including six Honor Roll selections in the past seven years.
Overall, this is the 20th time that Milwaukee has received with the Team Academic Award since the AVCA began presenting the honor following the 1992-93 academic year.
 
Milwaukee was one of just two Horizon League programs to earn honor roll status, joining Green Bay. Seven other league programs earned the Team Academic Award: IU Indy, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Purdue Fort Wayne, Robert Morris, Wright State, and Youngstown State.
 
The 2026 season gets underway on Aug. 28, when the Panthers take on DePaul in the opening match of three scheduled contests at Drake. Milwaukee will host a pair of exhibition matches at the Klotsche Center on Aug. 15 against Northwestern, and Aug. 22 against Parkside.
