Tipoff for both Friday and Saturday is set for 5:00 pm CT

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Riding a 10-game winning streak, the Milwaukee women's basketball heads to Indianapolis for a battle of unbeatens. The Panthers take on defending Horizon League champions and preseason favorites IUPUI in The Jungle with the league's top spot on the line. Tipoff for both Friday and Saturday is scheduled for 5:00 pm. Live audio with Matt Menzl on the call along with a link for live stats can be found on MKEPanthers.com.

With no fans permitted across the league for the remainder of the Horizon League season, fans can engage with the Panthers' Virtual Gameday Hub, a page on MKEPanthers.com that houses any and all links fans will need for that gameday experience.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
Behind two-time Horizon League Player of the Year Macee Williams, IUPUI opened the year 8-1 overall and 6-0 in conference play before having to cancel back-to-back weekends due to a COVID-19 pause.

The Jaguars a have an experienced crew with each member of the starting five a junior or senior. Williams leads the way for IUPUI with 19.4 points per game and a Horizon League-best 9.9 boards per contest. Fellow senior Sydney Roule averages 10.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists while shooting 51.9 percent from three-point range.

As a team, IUPUI leads the Horizon League in nearly every offensive category including points per game (74.0), field goal percentage (48.5) and three-point percentage (39.5). Defensively, the Jaguars allow just 52 points per game, which ranks second behind Milwaukee in the Horizon League.

LAST TIME THEY MET
The Panthers staged a huge comeback on the road, opening the fourth quarter with a 13-0 run, but came up just short on February 21, 2020. Sydney Staver led the way with 13 points while Lizzie Odegard pulled in 10 rebounds at The Jungle.

SERIES HISTORY
IUPUI has gotten the better of the Panthers, winning five of the six matchups dating back to the 2017-18 season. Milwaukee took one in Indianapolis on February 19, 2018, but the Jaguars have since won four in a row over the Panthers.

WHATS ON TAP?
The Panthers return home to the Klotsche Center, where they are 7-0 this season, to face Northern Kentucky for a weekend series. Milwaukee will take on the Norse on Friday, January 29 at 6:00 pm and follow with a 5:00 pm contest the next day.

LAST TIME OUT
Megan Walstad recorded her fourth straight double-double with a career-high 28 points and 12 rebounds to lead Milwaukee to a 65-44 win over Cleveland State on Saturday.

POWERING THROUGH LEAGUE PLAY
Milwaukee earned its fifth straight Horizon League sweep to move to 13-1 overall and 10-0 in league play. The Panthers extended the program's best start in both Horizon League and regular season history.

Dating back to last season, MKE has won 12 straight league contests, matching the longest winning streak the Panthers have had in Horizon League action which dated back to the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.

The Panthers' 10-game winning streak since December 6 is the program's longest winning streak since Milwaukee won 12 in a row from January 28 to March 6 of 2006.

COLLEGE INSIDER TOP 25 POLL
After another weekend sweep, Milwaukee moved up three spots to No. 7 in this week's College Insider Mid-Major poll. The Panthers have the most wins of any program in the top-25 poll at 13-1.

MKE's only loss of the season was to Bowling Green, who checks in at No. 23 with a 9-3 record. Fellow Horizon League member IUPUI (8-1 overall) remains at No. 6 in the poll while Wright State is receiving votes.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR POSSIBILITY
Megan Walstad had another big weekend for the Panthers as she was named Horizon League Player of the Week for the second time this season.

The redshirt sophomore has done it all for the Panthers and midway through the Horizon League schedule, she has a strong case to be in the Player of the Year discussion.
  • 13.3 ppg (8th)
  • 9.7 rpg (2nd)
  • 53.8 FG% (2nd)
  • 90.0 FT% (2nd)
  • 1.6 bpg (t-1st)
  • 6 double-doubles (1st)
DUAL DOUBLE-DOUBLES
In Friday's win over Cleveland State, Megan Walstad and Brandi Bisping each recorded a double-double for the second consecutive game marking the first time in program history a pair of teammates had back-to-back double-doubles for the Panthers.

Walstad has logged four consecutive double-doubles and six so far this season (which ranks 18th in the nation) while Bisping has recorded three double-doubles this year.

DOMINATING DEFENSE
Another weekend, another dominating defensive performance for the Panthers. Milwaukee continued its streak of holding opponents to under 40 percent from the field. The Viking scored just 44 points on Saturday, the sixth time this season that the Panthers have held the opponent under 50 points.

MKE's defense continues to be on another level, ranking top 12 in the nation in three categories.
  • 48.9 PPG allowed - 2nd
  • 31.9 FG% - 4th
  • 23.3 3PT FG% - 11th
Only North Carolina A&T has allowed fewer points per game (45.9).

SANTORO SPARK
In Friday's win, the Milwaukee offense got a spark off the bench from Miquela Santoro. After opening the year with 16 points, Santoro has not reached double digits since going 5-for-9 with 13 points on Friday. The redshirt senior knocked down three triples and also added a pair of steals in 31 minutes played.

PERFECT FROM THE LINE
In Friday's win, the Panthers finished 10-for-10 from the free throw line, their third game knocking down every single attempt. Prior to this year, Milwaukee has never had a season where it made 10 or more free throws without a miss in at least three games.

Milwaukee currently ranks third in the nation with 220 free throws behind Texas A&M (222) and Arkansas (287). The Panthers are second in Division I with a free throw percentage of 84.0 behind only Loyola Maryland who has played just two games.

MAMMOTH MARGINS
Milwaukee logged another 20-point victory over the weekend, topping Cleveland State by 21 points. The Panthers now have five wins by 20 points or more this season, matching the total number of 20-point wins in 2017-18 and 2018-19.

The last time Milwaukee had more than five wins with a 20-point margin was 2016-17 when the Panthers recorded nine victories of at least 20 points. That year, MKE finished the season with a +5.6 scoring margin.

The Panthers currently rank second in the Horizon League with a scoring margin of 14.4 points which would also be the largest in program history. Currently, Milwaukee's highest scoring margin is +9.8 which was accomplished in 2001-02.

YEAR 50
November 25 not only marked this year's season opener, but it was also the start of the 50th season of Milwaukee women's basketball. Kyle Rechlicz, in her ninth season, is the seventh coach in program history and third with at least 100 victories. As a program since inception in 1971-72, the Panthers have totaled 13 conference or district championships, two NCAA Tournament appearances, 19 Bud K. Haidet Hall of Famers, nine All-Americans, and much more.
