Miquela Santoro Joins the Panthers for 2020-21

The guard will be eligible to play immediately as a graduate transfer

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Milwaukee women's basketball head coach Kyle Rechlicz announced on Monday morning that Miquela Santoro will join the Panthers in 2020-21.

Santoro played three years at Winthrop University and will have one season of eligibility remaining. As a graduate transfer, Santoro can play immediately.

"We couldn't be more excited as a staff and team that Miquela chose to be a Panther," Rechlicz said. "She is a fierce competitor, has incredible footwork coming into her shot, and will fill a much-needed void as a shooter for us. Her tenacity on defense and high IQ will also play a factor in helping us be successful this season. I can promise that the Panther faithful will enjoy watching her compete in a Milwaukee jersey."

In three seasons for the Eagles, Santoro appeared in 76 games, making 65 starts. The Clarksville, Ohio brings plenty of experience to the Panthers, averaging 29.8 minutes per game over the last three years. Santoro led Winthrop with 25 made three-pointers in 2019-20, converting at a 33.8 percent clip.

Santoro averaged 5.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game in her career with the Eagles while adding 86 steals.

The 5-7 guard hails from Clinton Massie High School where she averaged over 17 points per game as a junior and senior and was recognized as a Top-100 player in Ohio.

Santoro will join incoming freshmen Angie Cera, Jada Donaldson, Kalvina Eubanks, Macy McGlone, and Kendall Nead as newcomers for the upcoming season.
