MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Milwaukee women's basketball team returns home to the Klotsche Center where it will host five of the next seven contests. The Panthers open the stretch with Green Bay on Saturday for Alumni Day. The game will be televised locally on My24 Sports with Bob Brainerd and Maria Viall on the call at 2:00 pm.
SCOUTING THE PHOENIX
After starting an uncharacteristic 3-3 in Horizon League play, Green Bay has earned wins in four of its last five games and is now tied for second place behind IUPUI.
Â
Led by Frankie Wurtz and Caitlyn Hibner, the Phoenix own the third best scoring margin. Wurtz leads the team with 15 points per game while Hibner adds 11.2 and 7.0 rebounds per contest. The two have combined for 77 of the team's 147 three-point field goals.Â
Â
Green Bay continues to be one of the best in the nation in taking care of the ball, leading the league and ranking 11th in the country in turnovers per game.
Â
After missing nearly all of the non-conference schedule, Hailey Oskey has provided a nice piece for Green Bay. Oskey is averaging 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game in league play.
Â
LAST TIME THEY MET
The Panthers pressured late to pull within four in the fourth quarter, but a late 10-0 run helped Green Bay hold off the Panthers 61-48.
Lizzie Odegard earned her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds while
Brandi Bisping pulled in a career-high 16 boards. Milwaukee knocked down 10 three-pointers but shot just 30.9 percent from the floor.
Â
SERIES HISTORY
Green Bay has dominated the all-time series lately, winning 14 of the last 15 games and 31 of the last 33. Overall, the Phoenix hold a 52-12 advantage over Milwaukee. However, seven of those Panthers' victories were at the Klotsche Center.
Â
WHATS ON TAP?
Following Saturday's game, Milwaukee hosts Oakland and Detroit Mercy the next weekend (Feb. 14-16) before hitting the road for one final regular season trip this year.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
Four players reached double figures and Milwaukee recorded its best shooting percentage of the season to topple Wright State. The Panthers hit 52.9 percent from the field and converted 52.4 percent from three-point range to earn the season sweep over the Raiders.
Â
WRANGLING THE RAIDERS
With the win on Saturday, the Panthers earned their first sweep over Wright State since 2015-16. The defending Horizon League Champions and preseason favorites have just four league losses with two coming at the hands of Milwaukee.
Â
PANTHERS POUR IT ON
Milwaukee was on fire at Wright State on Saturday, knocking down 52.9 percent of its shots. That is the best field goal percentage in a single game for the Panthers since a win over Northern Illinois on March 15, 2018 when MKE shot 69.4 percent, a stretch of 53 games. Milwaukee also converted 52.4 percent of its three-pointers (11-for-21), the third best mark from long range this year.
Â
REIT ON!
In two games last week,
Jamie Reit averaged a team-best 13.0 points and 5.5 rebounds. The senior shot 47.1 percent from the floor, 44.4 percent (6-for-9) from three-point range, and hit all six free throw attempts. Reit reached double digits in both games. When she knocks down at least two three-pointers in a game, Milwaukee is 4-1 this season.
Â
MAMMOTH MARGIN
The Panthers scored 40 more points on Saturday than they had in the previous game. Milwaukee scored just 37 points on Thursday at NKU and followed with a 77-point performance at WSU. That is the largest margin between two games since the 2017-18 season. That year, the Panthers were held to 36 points against Green Bay before totaling 85 points the following game against YSU.Â
Â
MAGIC NUMBERS
60: When holding an opponent to less than 60 points, the Panthers are 4-1. When Milwaukee scores at least 60 points, the team holds a 8-3 record this year. When MKE scores less than 60, the Panthers are 0-11.
Â
41: When Milwaukee pulls in at least 41 rebounds, the Panthers are 5-3. MKE's only wins outside of that was when they recorded 28 rebounds in win over Wright State and 38 rebounds in a win at YSU.

Â
RECORD WATCH
Redshirt
Alyssa Fischer is closing in on the all-time games played record at Milwaukee. Fischer has played in 125 total games in her career which currently tied for second all-time. Jenny Lindner (2014-18) holds the record, appearing in 128 career games.
Â
500 CLUB
With 138 rebounds this year,
Lizzie Odegard joined the 500-rebound club for Milwaukee. The redshirt senior became the 26th Panthers player to reach the milestone. Odegard currently leads the Panthers this season with an average of 6.3 rebounds per game.
Â
PRODUCING IN THE PAINT

Â
CONVERTING FROM THE CHARITY STRIPE
Over the last eight games, Milwaukee is 87-115 (75.7 percent) from the free throw line, which would put them second in the Horizon League in conference play. Milwaukee is shooting 72.3 percent from the stripe this season, over 50 points better than last year's mark of 66.8 percent.
Â
SENSATIONAL STAVER
Sydney Staver reached double figures for the third time in five games on Saturday. During that stretch, Staver is averaging a team-best 10.8 points per game. When Staver scores at least 10 points, Milwaukee is 5-2 this year.

Additionally, Bisping has already set new season-highs for assists (26) and steals (18).
Â
A BALANCED ATTACK
Milwaukee has had a few individual performances that stood out among the rest but for the most part, the Panthers bring a balanced attack. Head Coach
Kyle Rechlicz has 10 players averaging at least 10 minutes per game and six players averaging between 6.0and 9.1 points per game. As a group, the Panthers' bench scored has combined to score 532 points, an average of 24.2 per game.    Â
Â
NON-CONFERENCE RECAP
The Panthers closed their non-conference schedule on December 21 and what their record doesn't show is the strength of that schedule. As of January 28, the non-conference teams that Milwaukee faced have an 132-98 overall record. Seven of the 11 opponents have a winning record and eight of those schools have won at least 10 games so far this year.
