MILWAUKEE – Te'Jon Lucas of the Milwaukee men's basketball team has been named to the Preseason All-Horizon League Second Team, announced today by the league office.
Lucas, named Second-Team All-Horizon League following last season, is coming off a junior campaign in which he averaged 14.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
He became just the fifth player in Horizon League history to lead the league in assists (5.1 apg) and steals (1.9 spg) in the same season and the first in seven years. He also was just the second-ever Panther to lead conference in assists and the first to lead in steals.
A sure-fire nominee for Player of the Year this winter, Lucas ranked third in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6), fifth in free throw percentage, ninth in minutes played (33.4 mpg), 12th in scoring, and 17th in 3-pointers made per game (1.3) a season ago.
Loudon Love of Wright State was named the Preseason Player of the Year and was joined on the first team by Antoine Davis (Detroit Mercy), Amari Davis (Green Bay), Marcus Burk (IUPUI), and Darius Quisenberry (Youngstown State).
The league also debuted the preseason poll, topped by Wright State with 517 points and 37 first-place votes. Youngstown State (423 points/3 first-place votes) and Northern Kentucky (413/4) rounded out the top three. The Panthers placed 10
th, ahead of Purdue Fort Wayne and IUPUI while just missing ninth-place Detroit Mercy.
