WHEATON, Ill. – The Milwaukee women's swimming and diving team outpaced the Wheaton Thunder on Friday evening in Wheaton, Ill. The Panthers used nine event wins to outscore the Thunder, 115-82.
Milwaukee extends its all-time series lead, 27-3, over Wheaton.
Of the nine event wins, the Panthers grabbed a pair of wins in both relays. The 200 free relay of
Natalie Hey,
Kelen McDaniels,
Molly Meland, and
Cecilia Ostergren finished over three seconds ahead of the field in 1:39.95 to take first while the 200 medley relay of
Keely Frankwicz,
Andrea Bellart, Ostergren, and Hey won with a time of 1:52.43.
The next seven event wins came from seven different underclassmen Panthers.
Freshman
Molly Meland sprinted her way to a first-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 24:97 while junior
Kristina Larsen finished third in 25:83.
The freshmen trio of
Natalie Sepic (2:00.43),
Natalie Hey (2:01.19), and
Kelen McDaniels (2:01.33) went 1-2-3 in the 200 free.
The distance crew had a good night after sophomore
Bella Passamani dominated the field in the 1000 free with a time of 10:59.58 while teammate
Bri Zablocki clocked in next in 11:12.87 for second place.
Additionally, freshman
Riley Melendy grabbed a first-place finish in the 400 IM to touch the wall three seconds ahead of the field in 4:45.49.
Freshman
Amber Secrist claimed a win in the 100 back (1:00.17) by over four seconds ahead of the field, sophomore
Andrea Bellart also finished first in the 100 breast (1:07.15) by four seconds and Zablocki touched the wall first in the 100 fly with a time of 59.70.
Other top finishes for the Panthers include a second-place finish for sophomore
Sydney Dahl in the 100 free (55.52) and a second-place finish for freshman
Meghan Jagdfeld in the 500 free (5:27.14).

The Panthers return to action tomorrow against league foe UIC on Saturday, Nov. 9. Racing is set to begin at 11 a.m. from the Flames Natatorium in Chicago, Ill.
