MILWAUKEE – Trevor Wenzel of the Milwaukee men's cross country team has been named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team, the league office announced Wednesday.
To be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits.
Wenzel was an important scorer for the Panthers all season long, scoring in six of his races and leading Milwaukee in the first race of the season. He helped MKE jump into the regional rankings for the second year in a row, at No. 14, after his second-team all-league finish (13th) at the Horizon League Championships. Wenzel also tallied personal bests in the 5K, 8K, and 10K races this season.
The sophomore was also honored for his work in the classroom. Wenzel carries an impressive 3.859 GPA while majoring in a very competitive and vigorous mechanical engineering program.
