Walstad Again Named Freshman Of The Week

Newcomer helped MKE to 2-0 homestand last week

MILWAUKEE – Megan Walstad of the Milwaukee women's basketball team has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

The honor is the second of the season for the Apple Valley, Minn., native.

Walstad had a big hand in Milwaukee's 2-0 weekend. The freshman recorded the first double-double of her young career with 20 points and 10 rebounds - both career highs - to go with three assists and two steals in helping Milwaukee hand Youngstown State its first league loss of the year. Walstad followed that up with another 12 points - half coming in the final quarter - in a grind-it-out win over Cleveland State.

The Panthers hit the road this weekend, playing a pair of games in the Detroit area, starting Friday with a 6 pm Central contest at Oakland.
