Press release courtesy of Slan Sports Management

TORONTO, August 8, 2018 - Slan Sports Management is pleased to announce that Austin Arians has signed a one-year contract with Krepsinio Klubas Prienai of the Lithuanian Lietuvos Krepšinio Lyga (LKL) for the 2018-2019 season.

Arians, a 6'6" forward, averaged 12.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game for BC Khimik Yuzhny in the Ukrainian Superleague in 2017-2018. BC Khimik also competed in FIBA Europe Cup, where Arians averaged 8.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 91.7% from the free-throw line over 8 games.

A Stoughton, Wisconsin native, Arians attended Edgewood High School of the Sacred Heart in Madison, Wisconsin, where he was a two-time First Team All-Southern Badger and a Wisconsin State Journal All-Area honoree. Arians began his collegiate career in 2012 at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in the Horizon League of the NCAA.

As a freshman, he averaged 6.6 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, playing in 32 games. In his sophomore year, Arians joined the starting lineup and increased his production, averaging 10.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. Arians' performance helped Milwwaukee win the Horizon League Tournament and earn a trip to the NCAA Tournament. After sitting out a season to rehab an injury, Arians returned to the UWM lineup as a redshirt junior, averaging 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and ranking sixth in the Horizon League with 79 three-point field goals made. He was also named MVP of the Cable Car Classic, averaging 15.3 points per game while leading UWM to the title.

Arians graduated from Milwaukee following his junior year, and transferred to Wake Forest University in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) as a graduate student. In his only season at Wake Forest in 2016-2017, Arians averaged 8.5 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game in 33 starts. He led the team with 61 three-point field goals made, while shooting 42.7% from three-point range, ranking 16th in the ACC, and 89.2% from the free-throw line.

Arians is excited to be joining Prienai and believes his size and shooting ability will make him a valuable asset to the club.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to play for Prienai in a strong league," said Arians. "I am looking forward to getting to work and seeing what we will be able to accomplish this year."
