TORONTO, July 23, 2018 - Slan Sports Management is pleased to announce that Matt Tiby has signed a one-year contract with Buyukcekmece Basketball Club of the Turkish Basketbol Super Ligi (BSL) for the 2018-2019 season.
 
Tiby, a 6'8" power forward, spent the 2017-2018 season with Belfius Mons-Hainaut in the Belgium Euromillions League and FIBA Europe Cup. Tiby averaged 8.6 points and 7.2 rebounds, ranking second in Euromillions league play. In 16 FIBA Europe Cup appearances, he averaged 9.7 points, and ranked fourth in rebounding with 8.1 per game, while shooting 38.8% from three-point range.
 
An Urbandale, Iowa native, Tiby attended Urbandale High School prior to starting his collegiate career at Kirkwood Community College. After his freshman year, Tiby transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee of the Horizon League. He made his presence felt immediately, averaging 12.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest in his sophomore season. In his junior year, Tiby ranked 13^th in the Horizon League in scoring with 13.3 points per game and third in rebounds with 7.8 per game, earning All-Horizon League Second Team honors. In his senior year, Tiby averaged career-highs of 15.6 points and 8.2 rebounds, ranking seventh and fourth in the Horizon League, respectively. Tiby's season total of 272 rebounds set a new school record, breaking his own previous mark. He was elected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 12 Team, and was placed on the mid-season watch list for the Lou Henson Award given annually to the nation's top mid-major player. Tiby's career rebounding average of 7.5 per game is tops in University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee history and he is 11^th all time in the Horizon League with 1,332 career points.
 
Tiby began his professional career in 2016-2017 with Atomeromu SE Paks in the Hungarian A Division. In 32 appearances, Tiby averaged 15.6 points while leading the league in rebounding at 8.8 per game. He also averaged 1.0 assist and 1.2 steals per game, while shooting 55.7% from two-point range.
 
Tiby is looking forward to taking the next step in his professional career.

Buyukcekmece finished the 2017-2018 BSL season with a 10-20 record, and hope to take a step forward with Tiby in the lineup.
