Varsho Named To 2017 Horizon League Baseball All-Academic Team

Junior is a repeat honoree

MILWAUKEE - The honors and awards continue to roll in for Daulton Varsho of the Milwaukee baseball team.

Today, it was for his work off the diamond, recognized with a selection to the 2017 Horizon League Baseball All-Academic Team. This marks the second straight year for the junior catcher.

The All-Academic team is voted on by the Horizon League Faculty Athletics Representatives from each of the conference's 10 institutions.

To be eligible for All-Academic Team consideration, student-athletes must be starter of important reserve for their team, have completed at least 24 semester (or 36 quarter) hours at their institution and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20.

Varsho is currently wrapping up an impressive junior campaign, as the MLB-Draft hopeful is batting .366 (second in the league) and currently leads the Horizon League in slugging percentage (.644), on-base percentage (.494), runs scored (46), hits (70), triples (6) and walks (44), while cracking 10 home runs and driving in 37. He starts the weekend with 197 career hits, looking to become the first UWM junior to reach that mark in program history.
