ROCHESTER, Mich. - Senior Ryan Solberg drove in four runs, junior Ryan McShane had four hits and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team bounced back with 14-6 victory over Oakland University Sunday afternoon at OU Baseball Field.

The Panthers (18-25, 9-12 Horizon League) plated four runs in the first inning against the Grizzlies (10-30, 5-16 Horizon League) and never stopped, building an 11-0 advantage before Oakland got on the scoreboard.

"It was nice to see us come out and swing the bats like that against a good pitcher," UWM head coach Scott Doffek said. "We needed to have a pitcher step up and Tyler did. We are so short right now with arms and he really gutted it out. All in all, it was a nice way to end the weekend and I was very happy with the way the team played today."

Solberg finished a double short of the cycle as part of a 3-for-6 day, scoring twice in addition to the four RBI. He also stole another base to get to 24, tying the UWM season record held by Darin Haugom.

McShane went 4-for-5 and scored three times. He also drove in a run and stole three bases.

Senior Pat Wilson and sophomore Nick Unes each went 3-for-6. Every starter had at least one base hit, with juniors Derek Peake (2-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored), Mike Porcaro (2-for-4, 2 runs) and Tyler Hermann (2-for-3, 2 RBI) all adding multi-hit efforts.

Solberg, Peake and Hermann all blasted home runs to back the pitching effort from senior Tyler Thicke.

Thicke (5-5) pitched the first six innings and did not allow a run until his final frame. He walked five and struck out four, allowing four runs.

Freshman Zach Brenner struck out three over the final 3.0 innings of work.

Solberg tripled in a run in the first, one of six UWM hits that gave it a 4-0 start. Solberg then homered in the second, a two-run shot that made it 6-0. The lead grew to 8-0 after three, highlighted by Peake's second long ball of the campaign which put the game away.

The final week of the regular season is up next, with the Panthers ending the campaign with five home games. Up first is a doubleheader Tuesday against Northern Illinois, set to be televised by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel and scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
