MILWAUKEE - Kara Koch had 17 kills and Cleveland State hit .369 for the match en route to a 25-20, 25-17, 25-19 win over the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Saturday at the Klotsche Center.

The win by the Vikings (10-5, 2-0 Horizon) snapped the Panthers' 26-match regular season league winning streak.

Julie Kolinske had 13 kills to lead Milwaukee (6-9, 1-1).

UWM could never really get on track in the match as the Vikings hit .263 in the first frame and simply got better from there.

"They didn't lighten up at all. They kept the press on us the whole time and they played extremely well," Milwaukee head coach Susie Johnson said of the Vikings. "They basically picked us apart and we really couldn't figure out how to come back. But we'll get back to work on Monday and we'll figure it out."

Cleveland State pulled away late to win the first set. The Panthers led 9-8 after an Elizabeth Egerer kill by the Vikings responded to claim a 14-11 advantage on a kill by Christina Toth. Milwaukee did fight back to tie the set at 16 but CSU had the next surge to claim control. The lead hit 23-17 on a service ace by Amanda Medvetz and CSU then closed things out on a kill by Koch.

The Vikings followed a similar script in the second set. UWM was within a point at 13-12 following a kill by Neuberger but the Panthers could never get over the hump. The Viking lead was 17-13 on a kill by Marie Frease and 20-15 following a kill by Koch. UWM cut the advantage to 20-16 on an Egerer kill only to see the Vikings respond again. Koch had two more kills during the final burst, helping the Vikings go ahead by two sets in the match.

Cleveland State jumped ahead 11-6 on a kill by Koch early in the third set before UWM closed to within 12-10 on a solo block from Rachel Neuberger. The Panthers were still within 16-13 on a Kolinske kill but could get no closer. A UWM hitting error pushed the CSU lead out to 21-14 and the Vikings eventually closed out the match on a block by Maggie Hannon and Dayna Roberts.

UWM returns to action with a single match next weekend as Green Bay visits the Klotsche Center Friday for a 7 p.m. contest.
