The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee will celebrate the coaching career of Sandy Botham during a special event June 27.
Botham left her position as the head women's basketball coach at UWM in April for a position in the school's Alumni Relations office.
"Celebrating Sandy" starts at 5:30 p.m. on the 27th. It will be held in the Wisconsin Room of the UWM Union, with refreshments and hors d'oeuvres served.
Botham is the winningest coach in Horizon League history, having led the Panthers to a pair of league titles and NCAA Tournaments. She collected 245 wins in her 16 seasons on the sidelines, including a record 156 in league play. Botham was also a three-time league coach of the year winner.
Sandy was an outstanding athlete prior to her coaching career. She was a four-time all-conference performer in basketball at Notre Dame after performing as a standout in three different sports at Madison West High School. She is a member of both the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame (as a player) and the Madison Athletics Hall of Fame (honoring her achievements as both an athlete and coach).
